Verkadaโs August 2025 product update delivers meaningful upgrades across cameras, alarms, and access control โ with a strong emphasis on government compliance, operational visibility, and third-party integration. Hereโs a full breakdown of everything in this release.
Cameras: New Government-Grade Models
Four New FIPS 140-Compliant Cameras
Verkada is expanding its government-grade camera portfolio with four new next-generation models designed to meet the strict security requirements of federal, state, and local government agencies. All four models meet FIPS 140 encryption standards and are fully TAA and FY2019 NDAA compliant, ensuring they can be deployed in government environments with confidence.
The new models include:
- CD43-F โ Indoor dome camera
- CD53-F โ Indoor dome camera
- CD43-E-F โ Outdoor dome camera
- CD53-E-F โ Outdoor dome camera
These cameras bring Verkadaโs latest hardware capabilities to organizations that require government-grade encryption and compliance certifications โ without sacrificing the ease of use that the Verkada platform is known for.
Alarms: Better Visibility & Faster Response
This release brings several significant improvements to Verkadaโs alarm platform, making it easier for security teams to stay informed and respond quickly across multiple sites.
Alarm Email Notifications
Response contacts can now receive email alerts for alarm events, in addition to the existing SMS notifications. Each email includes pre-authenticated incident links so recipients can quickly review the situation and take action โ no need to log in separately or search for the event.
Redesigned Alarms Homepage
The alarms homepage has been completely redesigned to display previews of live alarms across all your sites in a single view. For security teams managing multiple locations, this is a major quality-of-life improvement โ you can see whatโs happening everywhere at a glance and prioritize your response accordingly.
Arm/Disarm Alerts
A new alerting capability notifies your organization whenever manual arm or disarm actions occur at unusual times. This helps detect anomalies like late openings, early closures, or unexpected nighttime disarm events โ situations that could indicate unauthorized access or procedural breakdowns.
Critical Alerts in Command
When an alarm is raised, it now appears as a red tile at the bottom of the Command interface regardless of where the user is navigating in the platform. This persistent visual indicator ensures that critical alarm events are never missed, even when your team is focused on other tasks within Command.
Access Control: API Integration & Wireless Lock Enhancements
Lockdowns and Scenarios API
Verkada now offers a Lockdowns and Scenarios API that allows organizations to retrieve available lockdown configurations and activate or release lockdowns using third-party software. This is a powerful addition for organizations that need to integrate Verkadaโs access control with existing security management platforms, emergency response systems, or custom workflows.
SimonsVoss Wireless Locks โ Local Whitelist Support
For organizations using SimonsVoss wireless locks with Verkada, a new whitelist-based unlocking capability has been added. Stored credentials can now grant access even when a lock is disconnected from the hub, ensuring that authorized personnel arenโt locked out during network disruptions or connectivity issues. This offline resilience is critical for maintaining secure yet reliable access in environments where wireless connectivity may be intermittent.
