Verkadaβs February 2025 product update brings a wide range of new features and improvements across the entire platform β from brand-new camera hardware and a game-changing search tool to smarter alarm capabilities and deeper access control integrations. Here is a comprehensive look at everything in this release.
Cameras: New Hardware, Faster Search & Better Performance
New CD43, CD43-E, CD53, and CD53-E Dome Cameras
Verkada has introduced four new 5MP dome cameras β the CD43, CD43-E, CD53, and CD53-E. These models feature enhanced low-light performance and advanced computer vision processors, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor environments where clear image quality around the clock is essential.
History Player Search
One of the standout additions this release is History Player Search, a powerful tool that enables instantaneous footage discovery across multiple cameras. Instead of manually scrubbing through hours of video, you can now construct chronological timelines that stitch together events across your camera network β dramatically speeding up investigations and incident reviews.
Revamped People and Vehicle Pages
The search interfaces for People and Vehicles have been completely reorganized with granular filtering capabilities. These improvements make it faster and easier to identify specific individuals or vehicles across your footage, cutting down on the time it takes to find what you need.
Person of Interest Only Face Search
A new privacy-focused feature limits facial recognition storage to pre-defined Person of Interest (POI) lists only. This gives organizations greater control over how facial data is stored and used, helping to balance security needs with privacy requirements.
CF83-E-F Fisheye and CP63-E-F PTZ: FIPS 140-2 Validated
The CF83-E-F Fisheye (12.5MP) and CP63-E-F PTZ (4K) cameras now include FIPS 140-2-validated encryption, making them approved for government and regulated-industry deployments that require the highest levels of data security.
Command Connector ONVIF Support
Verkadaβs Command Connector has been recognized as ONVIF Profile S conformant, and now goes a step further by also ingesting non-conformant RTSP-compatible cameras. This means you can bring virtually any existing camera into your Verkada Command platform, regardless of manufacturer.
Performance Improvements
Verkada has made significant under-the-hood improvements, including faster camera homepage and settings loading and up to a 30% reduction in Time to First Frame for historical playback. These enhancements mean less waiting and a smoother day-to-day experience for operators.
CD62/CD62-E End-of-Sale Notice
The CD62 and CD62-E dome cameras have been discontinued as of May 1, 2025. Existing users are directed toward the newer CD63 models as replacements.
Connectivity: New Outdoor Wi-Fi Gateway
GW31-E Outdoor Wi-Fi Gateway
The new GW31-E Outdoor Wi-Fi Gateway simplifies camera deployment in challenging locations such as parking lots, fence lines, and other outdoor areas where running Ethernet is impractical. This gateway extends Wi-Fi connectivity to get your cameras online without complex cabling.
Alarms: Wireless Expansion, Smarter Triggers & Badge-to-Disarm
WH32 Repeater and WH52 Hub
Verkada is expanding wireless alarm coverage with the WH32 Repeater and WH52 Hub, designed to provide reliable alarm connectivity across sites of varying sizes β from small offices to large campuses.
Badge-to-Disarm
One of the most convenient new features is Badge-to-Disarm, which allows employees to use their existing access credentials (badge, fob, or mobile pass) to disarm the alarm system. No more fumbling with codes at the door β just tap and go.
Line-Crossing Triggers
Line-Crossing Triggers create digital perimeters that activate alarms when someone crosses a defined boundary in a specific direction. This is ideal for protecting restricted areas, loading docks, or fence lines without the need for physical barriers.
Partition-Based Alarms
You can now configure multiple independent alarm responses per site based on which sensors are triggered. This means different areas of a building (e.g., a warehouse vs. an office floor) can have their own alarm behavior and response protocols.
Partition-Based Keycodes
Building on partition support, site administrators can now configure keycodes with selective partition access β giving different team members control over only the areas relevant to their role.
Improved Incident Link
The Incident Link feature now provides real-time visibility of concurrent users working on the same incident, plus a direct police dispatch capability for faster emergency response.
External Response Contacts
Non-Command users can now receive alarm notifications, making it easy to loop in external security teams, building managers, or other stakeholders who do not have a full Verkada account.
Access Control: Deeper Integrations & Offline Lockdowns
SimonsVoss SmartIntego Integration
Verkada now integrates with SimonsVoss SmartIntego wireless locks, enabling remote unlock functionality and live door event monitoring directly from the Verkada Command platform.
Third-Party OSDP Door Reader Support
Expanded compatibility with third-party OSDP door readers means more flexibility when designing or upgrading your access control setup β you are not locked into a single hardware ecosystem.
Atrium Integration for Higher Education
The new Atrium integration automates user and credential synchronization specifically for higher education institutions, simplifying the management of student and staff access across campus.
Offline Lockdowns with AUX Outputs
A critical safety feature: lockdown enforcement now persists during connectivity loss. Even if your network goes down, lockdown commands remain active. Additionally, AUX outputs now support triggering strobes and sirens during lockdown events for enhanced on-site alerting.
Door Exceptions API
The new Door Exceptions API allows programmatic schedule modifications via third-party software β perfect for integrating access control with your existing building management or scheduling systems.
Access Level API
The Access Level API enables dynamic updates to doors, schedules, and groups from external systems, giving IT teams the ability to automate access management at scale.
Non-Unique MFA Codes
Dedicated multi-factor authentication codes can now be configured separately, adding an extra layer of security at sensitive entry points.
Favorite Doors (iOS Pass App)
Users of the iOS Pass App can now pin frequently accessed doors to a favorites list for quick, one-tap access β a small but meaningful quality-of-life improvement for daily use.
Roll Call Reports (General Release)
Roll Call Reports are now generally available and integrate with Verkada Guest to include visitors in headcounts β essential for emergency evacuations and compliance scenarios.
Command Platform: Smarter Alerts, Better Collaboration & Mobile Upgrades
Microsoft Teams and Slack Integrations
Verkada Command now integrates with Microsoft Teams and Slack, allowing your team to manage security alerts directly within the communication platforms they already use every day.
Alert Inbox Enhancement
The Alert Inbox has been redesigned to expedite incident response with better event organization on both web and mobile β helping operators prioritize and act on alerts faster.
Enriched Notifications
Mobile notifications now include detailed event context, so security personnel can review and respond to incidents directly from their phone without needing to open the full Command dashboard.
User Directories and Licensing Groups (Beta)
A new beta feature introduces centralized user management with local team autonomy β ideal for organizations with multiple sites or departments that need both oversight and independence.
Global Site Admin Role
Org Admins can now grant themselves site-wide administrative access, streamlining management for administrators who oversee multiple locations.
Org Subdomain Login
Consolidated login access for users who hold accounts across multiple organizations within the same domain β reducing friction for managed service providers and multi-site operators.
Command User Admin Role
A new Command User Admin role allows delegation of user management tasks without granting full organizational authority β great for distributing administrative workload securely.
VPAT 2025 Compliance
Verkada has achieved VPAT 2025 accessibility compliance across the platform, ensuring the Command interface meets current accessibility standards.
Vehicles Tab (Mobile App)
The mobile app now includes a Vehicles tab for viewing detected vehicles and license plates on the go β useful for parking management and vehicle-related investigations.
Mobile Camera Setup
Setting up new cameras is now easier with QR code scanning for device commissioning and configuration directly from a mobile device.
Mobile Alarms App
The Mobile Alarms App brings full alarm management to your phone, including site arming/disarming, incident response, and access to historical alarm activity.
Intercoms: Emergency Configuration Mode
Emergency Configuration Mode
Verkada intercoms now support a specialized Emergency Configuration Mode with enhanced settings for call-for-aid scenarios. This ensures that during emergencies, intercom behavior is optimized for rapid communication and response.
Sensors: Custom Indices & Government-Grade Security
Four Custom Index Readings
Verkada Air Quality Sensors now support four custom index readings: Humidex, Dew Point, RESET Viral Index, and Mold Risk Index. These go beyond standard temperature and humidity monitoring to give facility managers deeper insight into environmental conditions that affect occupant health and comfort.
SV25-F FIPS-Validated Sensor
The new SV25-F sensor is a FIPS-validated, government-grade option with enhanced security layers β meeting the stringent requirements of federal and regulated environments.
Enhanced Third-Party VMS Data
Sensor readings shared with third-party video management systems now include name, value, threshold, and timestamp β providing richer context for automated alerts and reporting.
i-Pro Video Insight Integration
A new pre-built VMS connection with i-Pro Video Insight enables sensor event alerts with visual context, bridging the gap between environmental monitoring and video surveillance.
Workplace: Streamlined Visitor Management
On-Demand Access Credentials
Visitor check-ins are now simpler with dynamic credential generation, allowing front desk staff to issue temporary access on the fly without pre-registration.
Multi-Day Events
Verkada Guest now supports multi-day events with a single registration spanning multiple event days β eliminating the need for visitors to re-register each day of a conference or multi-day visit.
Advance Security Screening
A new pre-registration workflow allows guests to submit a government ID photo in advance, enabling security screening before they arrive on site.
Improved Guest Events Page
The Guest Events page has been enhanced with better visibility for present, future, and past events β making it easier for administrators to manage visitor activity at a glance.
